With over three decades of experience in multimillion dollar project development and execution, John understands his client’s needs and knows how to deliver results. Starting in the construction industry at the age of 13 and quickly becoming recognized as a leader, John was able to start his first private business venture at 18. After a three year cycle as both an apprentice in each of the master construction trades as well attending Staten Island College as a business major, John possessed a superior understanding of the industry and continued developing projects ranging in scope from medical, retail, multi dwelling and hospita . By the age of 24 John had successfully completed over 55 million dollars of development and formed “Mazzco Enterprises”, focusing on commercial, union and non-union sectors. After a merger with ADAK Contractors and Consultants, “ADAK/Mazzco” went forward with 6 years of successful development focused on retail, hospitality, medical and multi-unit dwelling, with John becoming the soul owner of the business. After numerous successful joint ventures with Landmark Development, John partnered with Landmark/Black Dog Construction Owner Frank Cretella in 2009 and has been supporting Black Dog as a partner. Active with local Universities and Kiwanian since 2002, John has served his community in various capacities, both as a president and maintained a seat on several prestigious board of directors. A lifelong Statin Island Resident, serving in the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 2003-2010, John Mazza is a respected leader, both in the construction development industry, and local community.

Frank Maintains a hands on approach in the day to day operations and continued success of the organization. With a wide scope of experience in development and execution of projects related to public & private commercial, residential, multi-dwelling, restaurant and hospitality as well as medical and hospital projects. Having successfully navigated across many different sectors, Frank maintains an innovative approach to curate the best solutions for complex large scale clients. His ability to lead and communicate a vision and propel the firm and its members into the next stages of growth have been recognized on a global level. Because of the prestigious track record of careful project execution Frank has been involved in the redevelopment and revitalization of the five block area known as the “North Avenue Historic Train Station District” in Plainfield, NJ. One of the more recent milestones was acquiring ownership and development rights to historic national landmark status properties in New Hope and Lambertville Pennsylvania, revitalizing and restoring early American Historic Landmarks and being granted the trust and responsibility to preserve and develop irreplaceable pieces of architectural history. The partnership with John Mazza in 2009 has cultivated an atmosphere of experienced collaboration that has strategically positioned Black Dog and increased the firms’ capability scope, doubling revenue year over year, as well as being awarded prestigious private and public development contracts, ensuring the continued longevity and success of the Black Dog organization. General Construction Superintendent
Celebrating 10 years with Black Dog Construction, having previously served in various commercial, retail and medical general contracting roles. Fernando has a deep understanding of the expectations and standards Black Dog maintains. With over 25 years of building experience, including execution of domestic military constructing partnerships with the Army Corps of Engineers, the years of experience has given Fernando a global project view that allows him to effectively manage daily demands. Capable managing multiple projects within deadline and on budget, as well as interfacing with various on-site workers, vendors and local municipalities, Fernando has long been an asset to the Black Dog Family.
Based in the New Jersey City offices, Kathie maintains more than 24 years of experience in construction administration. Past experiences include administration of a Union Wood Working Firm in NYC as well as working in the Residential and Commercial General Contracting Sector, supporting day to day operations. Kathie also has extensive knowledge managing and administering projects with both City and State agencies, NY Department of Education, State Dormitory Authority, NY & NJ Housing Authority, NY School Construction Authority as well as other public and private entities. Since Joining Black Dog, Kathie assists with company development and project development, focused on A/R and A/P, subcontractor management, negotiation and execution of insurances permits and inspections. Additionally, Kathie also is a key organizer of AIA Contracts and Billings, Subcontractor Bidding, and material procurement. Kathie has the ability to accomplish tasks across multiple areas pulling from a wide range of experience giving Black Dog Construction a tremendous competitive advantage.

Project Coordinator / Construction Administrator
Serving in the corporate offices as well as in the field, Mary brings 24 years of both construction management as well as foodservice E&S experience to the Black Dog team. Supporting daily field operations, multi facility project coordination and purchasing. Mary organizes and supports, pre and post project development phases, multi-state project facilitation including communications with state and local municipalities. Acting as a liaison between the corporate operations and project managers as well as company ownership, her role continues to expand within the organization. Previous roles included development and coordination of project execution sectors serving with private, multi-state operators giving her a breadth of experience that has been a tremendous addition to the team.
